Glendale Achieves Activemark Award

As a school we have been recognised for our commitment and contribution to physical education and school sport and have been awarded the Activemark Award.

Activemark is awarded annually and rewards delivery of the national PE, School Sport and Club Links strategy. Schools receive the mark if 90% or more of pupils across the school are doing at least 2 hours high quality PE and school sport a week.

School Photographs

The photographer will be in school on Monday 21st January from 8.30a.m.
All children will be photographed individually throughout the course of the day, and with brothers/sisters at Glendale if required.

The early session will be for Glendale children to have photos taken with younger brothers/sisters only. (Children not yet at school).

We will also be having a family session which will take place after school, between 4.00-6.00p.m.

This session will be an opportunity for photos to be taken with older brothers/sisters, whole families etc. and any family member is welcome to be included in the photos.

School uniform is not required for the family session.

In order to get an idea of numbers of parents interested in each session, please indicate on the slip below and return to school by the end of the week. It may be necessary to allocate time slots for the family session.

Chinese Lion Dance

Dear Parents,
Starting in January we are able to offer Year 1 and Year 2 children the chance to join a ‘Chinese Lion Dance’ club after school. The Lion Dance is part of Chinese Culture and is a good luck dance, being very exciting, very physical and very loud! It allows both musicians and dancers to be creative, have fun and use martial skill whilst being a unique way to get fit.

The sessions are being taken by Long Feng Martial & Cultural Arts of Old Arley in our school hall starting on Wednesday 16th January 2008. The cost is £2 per week and the course will run for 9 weeks. Each session will run from 3.00-4.00p.m.

If your child would like to participate please fill in the form below and return to school as soon as possible. There is a maximum of 25 places available.

French Club

We are hoping to run a French Club on a Thursday afternoon from 3-4pm for Year 1 and Year 2 children. The cost will be £2 per week and will run for 8 weeks, starting on 17th January 2008, from 3.00-4.00p.m.

The children will learn French by taking part in a range of activities such as word searches, games and songs.

(Please note this is not a Clubs4Children class and will therefore not need a start up fee).

If you would like your child to join the French Club please complete the form below and return to school with your payment as soon as possible.

Y2 Civic Hall Concert

We are delighted to have been asked again to perform at Bedworth Civic Hall on Thursday 17th January in the evening, as part of the Mayor’s Charity Appeal.

Organised by the Nuneaton Lions, local artistes and groups will come together for a charity show for one night only. We would like our Y2 children to perform highlights from their Christmas concert.

Coaches will leave school at 5.30p.m. Children will need to be in school by 5.15p.m, as our only chance to practise on the big stage is immediately before the show at 6.00pm! (The cost of the coaches will be met from school funds).

Every child will need a snack in a named plastic bag, (to be thrown away), black or navy trousers and pumps.

The children will be back in school at approximately 8.30 p.m. and will be released to parents through the main front entrance. Please do not try to take your child straight off the coach as they must all be registered in school first.

If you would like to see the show, tickets are available from the Civic Hall box office.

Please indicate on the slip below if you will be at the theatre and wish to collect your child from the theatre in the interval, (from the upstairs group dressing room), or from school at 8.30.

Please return the reply slip as soon as possible so we can confirm our numbers to the theatre.

Yours sincerely, S. J. Saje
